I understand the reason they have “previously on”, but watching those bunch of clips, it makes it really easy to predict the story: Hollow Earth, Worth as the villain, fighting against the clock to save the planet being exposed to a plethora of abnormals. Doesn’t make it less fun though ;)
10 seconds in and we already have a “Bloody Hell”. I swear, I haven’t sworn this much due to fandom since I first discovered Tarantino when I was 18.
Why yes, I am that obsessed with Henry. And, yes, I’m annoyed he wasn’t greeted by the TV woman. She greeted Will and Helen, but not him! *pouts*
I took this cap because Henry + technology is my OTP and so him holding the computer tablet… yeah.
Gratuitous Helen because she is pretty.
First time I’ve realised this episode is called “Into the Black”. So, combining it with the last episode… “Out of the Blue” and “Into the Black”. This amuses me more than it should.
Yeah, I like Henry.
I’d shake Kate’s hand.
Urgh. I’m watching this episode after watching X-Men: First Class. Humans are jackasses. I’m sure not all of them are. But it’s starting to feel like it.
Er, isn’t the motto supposed to be “innocent until proven guilty”?
I love Henry and Helen scenes. She’s more than just his employer, she raised him, but it’s nice to see him question her.
I still think they missed a trick by not having the Pteradactyl in Wales, Cardiff in reference to Torchwood, but I guess it could still Myfanwy (headcanon FTW) Still, there is there the trope: Britain is only London Oh well.
Aww, Henry! I can see his point. He wants to be “mutant and proud” as it were. He’s such a woobie, and he’s had to change his own self-identity due to his coming of age wolf storyline. He’s been able to accept the wolf in him and now his mentor is telling him that the humans aren’t ready for abnormals? Ouch!
I understand Helen’s POV too though. This episode is showing the humans as bastards. She’s been alive long enough to have witness the worst of humanity. But poor Henry. He looks so vulnerable in t-shirt and jeans, his hands in his pockets, so naïve and hopeful. (I may be projecting a little, I dunno)
Ooh, I guessed Worth was coming back but I genuinely thought he killed her. Ha! I like being surprised.
Urgh, people are still being jerks.
Henry calls Helen away from a conference meeting.
Knew it! Hello Druitt XD Oh, and he comes baring the news that Adam is alive. He’s never a killer when you want him to be, is he?
Yay for Bigfoot! And at least they show the abnormals being mild jerks too, only accepting help from other abnormals. I feel sorry for Kate. She’s discriminated against by the military and by the abnormals.
Cute abnormal guy who is nice to Kate. He’s either going to get hurt, die or be evil.
If I could draw, I’d love to do fanart of that. Sanctuary would be an awesome graphic novel.
I hate my brain. It now wants to ship Druitt/Worth.
Huh, turns out Worth is still suffering from Dead Little Daughter syndrome and even though she died over a hundred years ago, he wants to use the device he stole from Hollow Earth to save her.
Yikes. Druitt planned to go back in time with Worth, but so he could stop them all from injecting the source blood. He’s doing it so him and Helen could grow old together, live their lives out together. Damn Christopher Heyerdahl for being such a good actor, I really find that romantic.Or maybe just damn me for being twisted.
I don’t blame Helen for being angry and cynical about Druitt because she has every right to be. Changing history is kind of a big deal. Not to mention the emotional baggage between them. Still, Worth betrayed Druitt. My heart is in my mouth for both of them.
Wait, the Maybourne is called “Villanova” in this? That’d be an awesome name for a super villain!
I like it when Helen and Druitt work together. The look on Helen’s face made me lol though.
Whereas this almost made me cry! Helen just told Druitt she never wants to see him again after this is over. I’m sure she’s just saying that to spare herself any more heartache, she did love him at one point and he broke her heart. Very British to push him away after that, even though he’s tried constantly to win her back. He does care for her. He’s just not always himself and he’s not always sane/safe. Ow, my heart!
Wow, Helen is still so beautiful, even when they’re arguing and unloading some really ugly emotions.
Helen: You’d really wipe out the last 100 years without so much as a second thought?
Druitt: To be with you? Oh yes.
Dammit! I squeed. I’m very keen on not changing the past. Cause and effect is a major theme I find myself fascinated by. The lives of Henry, Will and Kate certainly would end up a lot different as well as countless others if Helen’s past was changed. Still, his devotion and passion would make me waver. I’m usually a fairly cold-hearted Brit, but he moves me in ways that slightly scare me. Dammit, I love Druitt more than I should. A lot more!
Meanwhile, some abnormals are causing trouble for Kate and the guy I think she’d like to date.
Will is trying to be diplomatic and prove to the screen humans that they don’t need to act like jerks when he sees a fight breaking out on the monitor. Cute abnormal guy got into a fight defending Kate’s honour. Sweet, but not very helpful.
Helen and Druitt are in abandoned Praxis. I think their expression says all we need to know about the state of that place.
Wow. This is quite a lot of info to absorb. The time dilation bubble that killed Ravi and the town a couple of episodes back was caused by Worth, obviously, but was only able to manifest due to a hole made when Helen trapped the Fire Elemental back during the second world war.
Just as I’ve wrapped my head around that, Druitt finds something else to cause alarm. The walking stick of Helen’s father is in the rubble, snapped in two. Poor Gregory Magnus!
Kate has just overheard the abnormals talking, rallying and rebelling. It really does seem an “us v. them” deal and that never works out fair.
He knows something, but he can’t/won’t tell.
Poor Kate (okay, I admit, this was just another excuse to get another pretty picture of her)
Helen so wears the trousers in the Helen/Druitt relationship. She probably wore them in the 19th century too.
Will finds the Hollow Earth woman dead. No screencaps, because I don’t find a fresh corpse or Will all that interesting.
Creepy, evil, abnormal Thor lookalike is going to use to this cause uproar. I’m betting he’s the one who probably killed her.
Oh Will, you really ain’t a fighter.
I like seeing Will hurt, a lot more than I should. Sanctuary tends to bring out the sadistic side to me, it’s a little scary.
Bigfoot to the rescue! Yay! XD
Aww, Henry. Keep it together dude. You’re doing amazing. He sounds so stressed, bless him. Life at the Sanctuary is never dull. Kate and Bigfoot are still trapped with the Praxis abnormals, Druitt gave Henry the data Helen downloaded from Adam’s computer and Henry has just learned that Praxis has been destroyed.
Now really isn’t the time for me to be thinking that Will’s t-shirt is better suited to Henry. Perhaps it IS Henry’s. Perhaps they’re at a clothes-sharing, slightly slashy point in their relationship. Yeah, I'm kinda bad at focusing. Oops?
He is such a woobie, I just want to huggle him!
Random shot of Will because I like his bruises.
Amanda Tapping’s gun bum strikes again.
Awww, Henry’s face when it’s revealed the BigGuy is being held hostage. And Kate is still in there too!
Helen has discovered that Worth is still there, just inaccessible.
Henry and Will are trying to avoid a massacre. They’re given 1 hour before the military attack the camps. I don’t know how they manage to do it, I’m so anxious and I’m just a viewer but Will and Henry manage to stay calm and talk things through.
I don’t care for Worth a jot but his line “Well, if it isn’t my favourite dysfunctional couple” about Druitt and Helen made me lol. My sentiments exactly.
Actually, scrap that. I do think Worth is a mischievous little bugger. Okay, redoing history is probably more than a little mischievous but I love the way he toys with Helen and Druitt. Worth could only choose one year to travel back to and travelling to Druitt’s chosen year would have meant the future may have changed and Worth’s daughter may not have been born. Worth couldn’t risk that.
Okay. This Christopher Heyerdahl crush I have is really starting to creep me out. I even got squiggly feelings when Worth talked about how cross Druitt was when he realised, doing that menacing thing with his voice. Guh, his voice!
Meanwhile, Henry uses his tech magic and Will uses his talk magic to realise that Abnormals from Hollow Earth took hostages at the camp in order to create a diversion away from a much larger invasion.
Hehehe. Crazy-pants is now my favourite word/phrase/thing. Thank you Henry.
Druitt is going to sacrifice his sanity/humanity so Helen can get to Worth. I do hope this means Druitt will be the sadistic bad guy again and not just, y’know, die.
Turns out the sacrifice is still too late. A time portal opens up and Worth steps through.
Helen walks through, not even looking back at Druitt.
Henry’s woobie face as he realises the scale of the invasion.
Who knew the 19th century had such CGI? Soo, Helen is stuck there. That’s quite a nice, fanfic-fodder of a cliff-hanger!
A very intense episode but it was the finale, so that was only to be expected. Cliff-hangers don’t really bother me, but I’m looking forward to see it being resolved.
It’s a pity that Tesla wasn’t in this episode, but I’m sure the fanfic writers will make up for that.
I'm a huge fan of time travel and this has made me personally happy. I planned a SL for a small fandom RP of mine which involved Jack the Ripper and time travel, but the RP disbanded before it got to be played out. Looking forward to see how Helen handles this.
As for me, it’s probably a good thing I’m really busy lately or I would be SUPER tempted to write some dark!Druitt fic. And some woobie!Henry fic. Probably both.
Anyway, I have ranted enough. What are your thoughts about the ep and my little picspam/review thing?
